I'm open to any and all suggestions that you might have on how to make the trivia game more appealing to folks, so we can get more participation in the game. Are the questions too difficult? Too easy? Should prizes be given out? I'm all ears! Thanks.

Prizes? We don't need no stinkin' prizes... (But then again, I could use a new car. ;))

It's been a while since I've played, but only because this is always a real busy time of year for me. I look forward to playing again come winter. I thought the questions were at a decent level of difficulty, not too easy, not too hard. And I learned a lot from them. I think the toughest thing for me is that sometimes I'd find two (or more) different answers to the same question, but I'm not really sure how that can be avoided.

I'm with Brass Napoleon....first, I seem to always have a big fat cat on my lap, which makes typing difficult :) Mostly this time of year is a killer. I bet I get to play around Thanksgiving and Christmas, and I do think the questions are good. Many of them, however, seem to be linked to political questions, which the average person may not be as "into" as battles, etc....even though I enjoy and learn from them...just my humble opinion. And I can use a new car, too.....can you sneak one or two into your rig?

The real reason Nathanb1 doesn't is there are not enough questions about THAT GUY!

To be honest, I have only looked at it once or twice. Spending my time elsewhere and chatting on the forum with Ole, Judi and Jim and and and

With as many battles that took place I think you could run for a while doing question about a different battle each time.
Wilderness, Vicksburg, Antietam, Gettysburg, and on and on.
Something like that would interest me.

I recognize that Glorybound's job is such that he cannot commit to posting questions and answers on a set schedule.

Unfortunately, the game currently has virtually no competitive aspect to it.

Questions and answers are posted on a very irregular basis. Scores haven't been posted since mid-June.

The way it is now, somebody who wants to play the game just has to keep checking back to the webpage, day after day, to see if today will be the day that new Q&A have appeared. But after checking back on numerous occasions and finding, again and again, that today isn't the day, sooner or later somebody gets tired of it and stops checking. And when that happens, we've lost another player.

Obviously, we can't ask Glorybound to stop his truck in the middle of the highway every Saturday evening at 6 PM in order to post the questions for the coming week and the answers for the previous week.

Still, my feeling is that there just isn't much chance of getting more people to play the game unless some way can be found to get questions and answers posted on a regular weekly basis.

I would like to ask whether Glorybound thinks he could find the time to come up with 20 Q&A per month, if he didn't also have to find the time to post them, review all the players' answers, and record the scores.

If so, maybe we could find somebody else to take over the tasks of doing the posting and reviewing and recording. Glorybound could send the 20 questions to the other person via private message at the beginning of the month, and then the other person could just use five of those 20 each week on a regular schedule. Assuming the posting was done on Saturday, we could just take a week off in those months when there are five Saturdays.

Incidentally, I am not volunteering for the job of "other person." If I took that job, I would no longer be able to be a player, and we have few enough players already without taking me out of the mix.

I am new to the site, but is there any interest in having "live" trivia? Where the moderator types the question and those in the room fire off the answer and the first one to type it in correctly- gets the point. There could be a time limit to each question. It was a lot of fun at another site I used to be on. Just throwing it out there.

As a former "quizmaster", I'll recuse my self from giving suggestions, but just a few hours ago I found a question I might have used in my day.

What Academy Award winnining actor was named for (depending on your source, either) his 2nd-cousin, 3-times removed; or his 1st cousin, 4-times removed - Robert E. Lee?

(hint: it was not Broderick Crawford)

I used to play regularly, but I tended to forget and miss the deadline for answers. Would it be possible to post reminders to forum members?
I like the idea of a theme every week or month.

Suggestions

1. Answers cannot and should not begin with the word ABOUT.
2. Questions should not ask for opinions.
3. There should not be an approved place to find answers. Any place that answers can be found should be acceptable. Sometimes the "correct" answer isn't the only answer.
4. Answers and new questions need to be posted on the date stated. If weekly is not convinent for you, then go to every other week. I see nothing wrong with that. It's better than never knowing when the new q's will show up.
5. Scores should be kept and posted. I think that everyone likes to know how they are doing. I don't think that it is necessary to have the old two division system that we were using.
6. Prizes are nice but unnecessary. This is a learning experience not a carnival game.
Thanks for allowing me to have my say...

Yes, we could have a separate trivia game just about HIM, but Larry and Diane would constantly beat me and I'd get mad :)
