succotash and beans

Succotash was a nourishing Native American staple. The name is from the Wampanoag msickquatash meaning "boiled corn kernels". One of earliest written recipes is from 19th century.. It had corn (ears), dried Jowl Bacon, baby Lima Beans, salt, pepper and butter. It was cooked in Dutch Oven over the fire.
