While doing some research for western Tennessee info, found this and thought it was interesting. Bounty's for enlisting were $300 but this is way more:

February 22, 1863 - "SUBSTITUTES WANTED" Two thousand dollars each, will be paid for five, steady, able bodied men, of forty-six, to fifty-eight years of age. Apply in person or by letter. J. M. Willy, Chattanooga, Tenn. Chattanooga Daily Rebel, February 22, 1863
