One of my supervisors writes mystery novels set in Nashville. She's going to donate 50% of the royalties of this new book (electronic version) to raise awareness on the issue of slavery, which still exists in the world today. That sounds like a clever idea. It would be nice to donate to a group specifically dealing with the problem. The was a BBC special that spoke about a means of paying for slaves used in rice mills and rug mills in India.

I've asked her to send me a link via e-mail so I can post it here. A link that would explain where the money is going. The electronic version is only ten bucks.

I remember sending around $30 to a Christian group that was buying back Christian captives in the Sudan who were being sold for that price apiece. That was a few years ago.
