This weekend, I visited my cavalry camp and started digging iron signals, since they were the only things loud enough to hear since my detector couldn't get very close to the ground. It was very overgrown... I found two of these strange, small wrenches in the back of the camp, and for the life of me, I don't know what they were. They don't look like any gun tools I've seen online.

I also tried water hunting for the first time today, and quite enjoyed it. Found a canteen spout and Williams cleaner outside of a well known New York camp that's been hunted since the 60s.

Good Man.
Since this was a cavalry camp and you also found a ring, my first guess would be part of a harness or even a bit - a broken curb bit of some sort?
I've found several rings here, and all wre larger size, consistent with horse tack i.e bridle parts. This ring is smaller, and is the exact same size as the small ring on the side of a sharps carbine. I believe that's what I have here.

Nipple Wrench was my first thought. Rust can dissolve quite a bit and leave the crescent of the wrench bigger than normal. My guitar tools have similar looking wrenches but I doubt those troops were equipped with mounted services Telecasters.
