I just discovered that my James Harvey Stephenson(6th)1st Tennessee Cavalry,if he hadn't been captured or wounded, was in one of the last engagements during the Civil War at Henry Court House in Martinsville,Virginia,
on April 8,1865. The day after the engagement General Robert E. Lee surrendered the Confederate army. There is a historical marker dedicated to the fight with a drawing of a cavalry charge.
James Harvey Stephenson belonged to Co. K, (6th) 1st Tennessee Cavalry recruited in Giles County,Tennessee.

Yes, All day I was looking for the papers of George S. Storrs on line. His papers used to be on line and mentioned Ward's Alabama Light Artillery C.S.A. at Kennesaw Mountain. I gave up on Storrs and decided to see what I could find on James T. Wheeler who was also at Kennesaw Mountain and Stoneman's Raid came up!
