While I'm new to this group and to this hobby, I'm very unsure of this is from civil war , military or police. Any ideas out there? Dug in Florence SC.

I can't tell but it looks like there are some numbers - 338? - under the O S. Maybe a badge number for police/sheriff?

Yes 333 It's about 2 inches in diameter. Do you think maybes hat pin or badge ?

Cool piece, it looks as if it was designed to be hung around the neck on a chain. Looks to be post war.
