This Colt pocket is fully engraved and is inscribed "Stand by the Old Flag". It was given to me a couple of years ago by a cousin who appreciated my appreciation for firearms. She told me that her Father would have been honored for me to have it... I know only that I was honored by her gift.

I wish I had such cousins.
And she was a cousin (by marriage) that I had not seen very often. She wanted me to give her a value for three antique revolvers left to her by her late father. When she brought out this bundle of revolvers wrapped in an old rag, I was floored. There was a Marlin, a Moore Teat Fire & this Colt. She asked if I could find a buyer for the revolvers at the price I estimated. I told her yes, that I probably could. She then went on to say that the Colt would be a gift to me because she was taken by the respect I had for it and my knowledge of the 3 weapons. I protested & she insisted so I gave her cash for the other two revolvers and took all three home. They now occupy one case in her honor.

The Gael,

I can only echo 7th Mississippi Infantry's post above, in that I wish I had such cousins.

May I ask the year of each pistol?

Sincerely,
Unionblue

Excellent! Thank you for showing all of them. The Colt, in particular, is a beautiful piece. You have a wonderful collection and I'm glad you share it with us.

I have been informed that the engraving was a Colt factory engraving done in the "donut" style that was used in 1851 & 1852. The serial number dates the firearm to 1852 production.
