Hi all im a new member located in the u.k I have just bought at auction an 1863 Springfield I paid the equivalent of five hundred dollars for it and wondered if I could have any pointers to the gun and value please

Yes, for $500 you can't usually get something fully intact with original lock, stock and barrel that is also in decent shape. The only thing missing is the rear sling swivel. Looks like the original barrel bands and ramrod are there. Stock looks okay, no major wood missing or cracked, full size. Not sporterized into a shotgun or cut down. Depends on the overall condition, but from what I can see I would say ball park figure for a decent US model 1863 like this would be around $1400 to $1500.

Very Nice Piece for $500 whats the VAT going to run to get it in to the UK.
