Spring Hill

Excellent. That was the car factory, right? Didn't they close that down? I haven't been to that area for a long time.

Here in Virginia this is a big problem. Trying to protect historic sites as well as the rights of the property owners is very hard to do. Between all the marching to and fro in Bacons Rebellion, the Revolutionary War, the War of 1812, the Civil War, It's hard to find a place that can't find something of interest that someone will want to preserve.

Too true. Pretty neat for a history nut like myself but hard on the farmers. The road I drive on every day was used by Cornwallis on his way to Yorktown and by Lafayette following him. It was used by Benedict Arnold in the war of 1812 and also by Tarleton. The church where George and Martha Washington were married is still being used as a church and is about 10 miles away. Close by is White House on the Pamunkey that was burned down in 1862 and where 2 of Lees sons retired too after the war for a few years. Stuart rode across that road on the way to Long Bridge on his 1862 ride around the federals and supposdly the spot where John Smith was taken by the Indians is about 2 miles from my home.
