I took a drive out to the Spotsylvania battlefield this morning.

It was quiet and rainy. I took time to read the signs and consider the desperate fighting that took place. Several signs said that the casualties accomplished no purpose. I thanked them for their service.

I'm sorry I couldn't make it for that. All his presentations were excellent. I packed alot into this visit to the East Coast. I spent the most time with my grandkids in TN. I've been going to visit them for 7 years twice a year, and I love the fact they know me and we don't miss a beat when I show up.

In regard to Musters and presentations, I just returned from a trip to Italy. The tour guides used devices so everyone could hear the narration. Amazon sells a variety of them.

I have experienced alot of trouble hearing the outdoor lectures at all the Musters. If we can't do something like an amplifying device then a paper copy of the lecture should be provided. The speakers are wasting their time if no one can hear them. I find it very frustrating at every Muster I have attended..

While this looks like a great idea, suggestions like these are the very reason no one wants to volunteer to host a CWT muster anymore. Musters are volunteer planned, volunteer led, and volunteer funded. They are not paid tours led by paid professional tour guides, and expectations should be adjusted accordingly. I know I can't afford a $1000 sound system to use once every two or three years for a volunteer event.

That is true. That's why I suggested having printed copies of the presentations. To control costs presenters could make an online version available to those who wanted them to print themselves. I know that I have not been able to hear at least part of the outdoor presentations at every muster I went to. I printed handouts for the muster participants at the organizer's request at Antietam. I didn't mind paying the library for that. Or maybe each person could print their own. I understand the many reasons no one wants to host musters. I appreciate the work done by organizers in the past.
