Spiced Corned Beef

With St. Patrick's Day on the horizon this variation of the Irish/Irish-American favourite Corned beef came to mind. Its very popular around Christmas time but these days it available in stores all year round. Its very similar to corned beef but has a strong spice rub crust on the outside. The spices in the rub include All spice, cloves, black Pepper, white Pepper, nutmeg, dried ginger, cinnamon. The last time I tried it I remember the All Spice being a predominant flavour. The dish is a particular favourite in the south of Ireland in County Cork and can be purchased from artisan producers in Cork City's famous English Market.

Add beets to the New England boiled corned beef dinner, and make "red flannel hash" subsequent mornings! Dee-lish!
I'll have to try this here county Cork spiced beef stuff...

I've seen the New England boiled dinner on the food network and it looked good. I'd like to try one sometime.

Not a fan of strong all-spice flavor, but I do love corned beef. I do some kind of New England boiled dinner with corned beef every year, and then serve it with a whipped cream and horseradish sauce. Then I stock up on corned beef when the sales hit and make all manner of less traditional stuff. In the summer I like to throw corned beef in the crock pot with a beer and make corned beef sandwich spreads.

Although I do like the sound of that spiced corned beef on a sandwich with caramelized sweet red onions. It's not my favorite caramelized onion combination, but I do think allspice and caramelized onions go well together.
