I like biographies of battle leaders without an overload of supposition into the persons perceived underlying deep psychological reasoning. Less guessing.
I have read about lincoln, Sherman, grant, lee, stonewall, Longstreet, Cleburne, Shelby, Thomas, hooker, Burnside, and a few others.

Any enthusiastic suggestions for others where I might hear from something other than after action reports?

If it's not meant for college level reading, but geared more to professional level acadamia...I will have to use my finger to follow along, and my lips will move while I'm reading.

I'm really not that hard to please so give it a shot. Please let me know. I want a new guy.

How about John Buford? Eric Wittenberg has 'The Devil to Pay' and there's Longacre's biography 'John Buford'. I have a liking for cavalrymen and he was a dandy!

John T Wilder is another but I'm not sure there is a real biography of him - haven't found it yet!

I am on my second book by Eric, One Continuous Fight, and I cannot say enough about how much I enjoy his straight forward, as-it-was, yet engaging writing style. My most recent order is his book on Sheridan, Little Phil: A Reassessment of the Civil War Leadership of Gen. Philip H. Sheridan

I still haven't read anything by him! Gads...I've really got to update that book bucket list of mine...:sluggish:
