Does anything remain of this site?

My GG Grandfather lost his leg there on 3/29/65. And a cousin killed the same day on the same breastworks. Would like to visit if there's anything left to see. What a shame for them to have made it through 3+ years of war only to have this happen so close to the end.

Thanks,
Dave

Hi @DBT. This may get you started in the right direction.

Lubliner.
Thanks for posting that. It's a great thread.

Thank you both! I guess I could have found that by using the search function but I'm still learning how things work around here. Look forward to reading!

Lubliner beat me to it. I knew it was here somewhere. There is more there than I thought for some reason. Definitely worth a visit.

Wow, what a fantastic read!

Time to prep for the upcoming eye-roll when I tell my wife we're making yet another detour on the annual beach trip to the Florida coast.

Does anyone happen to know the placement of individual union regiments? I have "The Last Siege" by Brueske (love that name) but I don't see that kind of detail.

The GG grandfather I mentioned who lost his leg and the 1st cousin who was killed served in company F of the 29th IL along with four other first cousins from the same family. I also have two more 1st cousins each in company A and E. It never ceases to amaze me how many immediate family members served in such close proximity.

I have some maps in "Digging All Night, Fighting All Day" showing brigade positions.
