Years ago (mid 90s) I visited Gettysburg, mostly in order to check out all the monuments there. One of the pieces I found was Avard Fairbanks' statue of Albert Woolson, known as the "GAR Monument." Woolson, although not at Gettysburg, was, at 109, the last surviving GAR member. Imagine my surprise when, a few years later, I was wandering through Duluth and discovered another casting of the statue. It turns out Woolson was from Duluth. My guess (which means that I am daring you to prove me wrong) is that this makes Woolson the most obscure person to have two statues of him.
To make this a book review, I found the info about the Gettysburg statue in Frederick W Hawthorne's fine work, "Gettysburg: Stories of Men and Monuments as Told by Battlefield Guides."
