Sorry Linda, I am not finding a slave/spy story in this article. Many another disturbing editorial piece, but no spies.

Samual Hilderbrand who was a famous CSA insurgent in Mo bragged about wearing a captured Union uniform and ridding up to slaves to ask where the partisans were. If they told him he would laughingly shoot them. It definitely took guts on the slaves part to become spies.
