Diorama Should I pull this diorama apart?

Great find, well worth $10.
The common consensus seems to be that if you do decide to dismantle it, then adding some sort of greenery/groundwork would be the way to go.
Here's the base I built for the Shiloh Diorama, using twigs, brass etched leaves and some scenic's grass.

You could use the 2 standing figures firing through the trees with the lying down figure being wounded in the leg but still maintaining his position in line. maybe call it 'Hold the line'

I am not sure the height of the tree would fit in to many of my display cases. Buy taller display cases?

The tree need only be an inch taller than the figures. The one shown above is only 4 inches high. Failing that you could use a fence, bush or a wall.

This scene appeared in the classic American Heritage Picture History of the Civil War by Bruce Catton and was one of four from that book that were reproduced during the Centennial by Milton Bradley as a set of jigsaw puzzles. (Naturally I had them all!)

You may not believe this, but I had to leaf through my copy of the AH book to find the painting to get the title! Page by page. And it took longer than it should because I still get distracted by the diagrams with the little soldiers!
