My Grandson Cole and I went to Shiloh today for a visit and took a few photos I wanted to share with those less fortunate who can't run to the Park as often as we can.

Of all the battles in that terrible war, Shiloh has always seemed to me the most terrible in ways I can't explain, at times the battlefield is at once everywhere and nowhere with isolated, desperate groups of men falling by the tens and then hundreds to foes they can't even see at times in impenetrable thickets and rough fields. It is the one battle whose outcome seems to hang forever forever in the balance as I read the accounts.

To me it is in the fall/winter! Weather fairly mild, probably tropical to the upstate New Yorkers, and all little creatures that bite, sting or suck blood are absent! The foilage dying and dead allows one to see the terrain hidden by the 600,000 plus trees as well as hidden tablets and monuments. I will post some photos showing the hidden gems of this Park.

Not bad at all, usually tourism doesn't really pick up until the anniversary of the battle (April 6-7) gets close. Plus, early Spring in the South usually isn't bad at all.

I agree Bob for sure though his Grandmother has mentioned to him quite often and I am not trying to stop her for sure!
