Sad and Pathetic

So I went to the cafeteria for lunch today, which came in one of those little card shells like they serve nachos in at the movies. Since I had to go to another building, I grabbed another cardstock shell and put it on top, upside down, as a cover.

Walking to the other building, I looked down and thought, wow, that's the same shape as a casemate ironclad!

So very pathetic.

Our brains form associations and match patterns very quickly-- it's got to be very close to the essential way we sort and store information. My immediate reaction when I saw the photo before reading your text was "hey, those look like scows." :D

(And my fairly deep familiarity with three things in particular mean that I occasionally will start laughing at something for no immediately obvious reason: The Simpsons, Monty Python, and George Carlin, all of which have loads of referential humor.)

:bounce:in the other thread about rocket powered torpedo boats, I was looking through many of the documents on Fold3 for Mr. Angamar and there is one letter he wrote to Federal authorities explaining how it was all just a big mistake and he didn't get a fair trial....etc, etc....and then he compared it to 'the Spanish Inquisition'........and of course also being a Monty Python fan you know what popped into my noggin....

NOOOOOOOOOO one expects the Spanish Inquisition!!!!!!!!!!:D

Have you noticed that some TV remotes are shaped like the "cheesebox-on-a-raft" style of ironclad?

That's why they're sold as a pair--when you purchase a TV Monitor, you get a Merrimack to go with it.

)

OMG. Wonder how many people have looked at that and said, "I didn't know they had TV back then!" I need to try that with the 8th grade next week. I KNOW I'll have some takers.....

This thread floats my boat. OK, groaner aside, this is toooooo much fun. From nachos to ironclads to Battery Park to the Spanish Inquisition to gullible 8th graders. This has everything but Louis T. Wigfall!

Vampire books!

All of you, read some vampire books to get your perspective back!

A few chapters later, you will be seeing vampires everywhere in the night, not ironclads or Monitor TV remotes!

Ah hahahahahaha!

Unionblue aka working the midnight shift

If I'd known this I don't think I'd have let you sit in the back seat at Franklin. Bet Bonny wouldn't, either. :)

LOL. I did see you in the mirror, though.

Nathanb1,

You saw the image I permitted you to see.

Remember, from vampire lore, they have the ability to cloud a person's mind and alter their memory.

When are we going on another trip?

I'm about ready. No class to supervise on trips, no surgery (fingers crossed!)....It's about time to start planning.
