would suggest to anyone who has seen the movie, and is interested in this tragic period, Like Judgement Day the ruin and redemption of a town called rosewood by Michael D'Orso is a really good read with some modern day aspects to it.
While they did take a few liberties with the movie, its unfortunately largely accurate.......
If not familiar with the movie in 1923 there was two sister communities in Florida, Sumner (white) and Rosewood (black), a white woman from Sumner makes accusation of being raped by a black man, It escalates and spirals out of control until Rosewood is basically completely destroyed.......
