While looking for some other information at the online collections at Duke University I came across the papers of Rose Greenhow.this is real interesting reading from this famous confederate spy.

These would make excellent reading, sorry I missed this when you posted it. Like Van Lew, boy, was Rose the real deal. Her name is just so famous I think her story gets lost, you know? What a dreadful death. Women's skirts plus gold as added weight- cannot imagine what it would have been like trying to swim, hampered by them, fighting that losing battle.

Not sure who it's from, just ' William ' a letter to Greenhow requesting information be gotten to Stuart. For some reason the second side isn't published.
