Rockport was another stopping place for the 106th Ill. Inf. when they left Little Rock and Benton. A pontoon bridge was their destination and saving it was their brief assignment.

Found the site of the former pontoon bridge and new bridge. Pictures show art of the time and then pictures I took of the site.

I am standing half way between the river and the top of the slope up to the house in the old picture. Sun was too bright to picture that for you. You can see today's bridge above me.

Rebel troops also retreated from Little Rock to near here.
