I don't know if that title is true or not, but that's what it says in the Colfax County Stockman (N.M.), of July 8, 1893. Perhaps this story if well known, but it was new to me:

"Lee was never a great talker except under one condition, and that was when he had young ladies to entertain, for then his natural gallantry got the better of him and he was a charming companion..."

I was going to read the whole thing, but quit at the beginning, because the piece is exactly why I counsel others not to believe a word from 19th century newspapers. Edited.
