Hi! All my life it's been my family belief that my great grandmother was a cousin (or such) of Robert E Lee. I would dearly love to know my family connection to him (if any) Her name was Emma Lee and she married Samuel Sands and became Emma Sands in CA. I believe she had sisters too.
There was a relative that lived nearby and his name was Edward. His homestead was called "The Edward's"
I reach out to you for help! :)

Interesting tidbit: In my family we have the "E" as middle initial. My mom, sister, me & my niece. My grandma's name was "E" (Emma's daughter) also

Welcome from PA!

Relatives indeed. Here you go :

Col Henry Giles Lee, II (of VA,) father of
Theodorick Lee (of VA,) father of
John Hite Lee (of VA,) father of
John Percival Lee (of many places, incl KY, UT, AZ,) father of
John Rupert Lee (of KY), father of
Emma J. Lee (of CA)

Col Henry Giles Lee, II (of VA,) father of
Major General Henry Lee (of VA,) father of
Robert E Lee

So Robert E Lee's grandfather was your Great Grandma's ggg grandfather.

John Percival Lee was one of the founders of Utah and a Mormon Elder, you might want to do some research on him, interesting guy. John Rupert Lee was his first son from his first wife and not sure whether he was a mormon himself.

OH THANK YOU!!!!!!! I remember finding a book of Mormon upstairs in the house. It was Emma's house. None of my family went to church etc so it was a strange thing to find. Then I found out there had been a connection to it and a connection to the East. I've wanted to find out about family my whole life!

Yes it IS! Thank you for making me feel welcome and the info!!!

How do I get an avatar? :)

I just saw the find a grave. Thank you!! I used to drive by that all the time, it's right outside of Paso Robles CA. If you read that info, Maynard was my great uncle and Edna was my grandma. MY "E" is Edna after her. I was born in 63 and knew Emma when she was very old and in a wheel chair. I was 4 when she died.

It's got to feel pretty amazing knowing you have Lee's bloodline in your family! As for me I don't have any famous relatives other then a possible connection to Ty Cobb of baseball game. Welcome to the forums from NC
