Or are those ordinary rowboats?

Is it just me, or does this image appear to be taken during the winter rather than in May (after the Battle of Chancellorsville?)
The soldiers are wearing great coats and the trees and field look bare.

Well its taken after Chancellorsville doesn't mean it's taken at Chancellorsville.

Also the trees on the right background appear to have no leaves. That's not May in Virginia
