One year ago today, I joined CivilWarTalk. Today, almost 5,000 posts later, I am reflecting on the effect that that decision has made on my life.

In the last year, I have learned more about the Civil War and the people involved in it than I ever imagined there was to know. I have watched videos of Civil war sites, read reams of discussion on everything from soup to nuts, engaged in debate, and so many other things. The most important thing that has happened, for me, is meeting so many interesting, funny, intelligent, and genuinely kind and thoughtful people here.

My knowledge of the Civil War has grown and I have grown with it. I am sincerely looking forward to many more years with all of you.

Thank you all so much!

I've enjoyed reading so many of your posts, Northern Light. I had no idea you'd already posted 5,000 times in just a year. That seems pretty amazing to me.

Congratulations NL, it's truly been a pleasure reading your many excellent contributions to this site (altho can't say I've read all 4,449)... so to go along with your "Huzzah", I hope you don't mind if I yip-yip a rebel yell or two in celebration of your CWT Anniversary!!

12.2 posts per day for the last 365 is pretty impressive... is it fair to assume that when you get into something, ahem, you go all in...?

What's also quite impressive is your number of "Likes"...

5,553 "Likes"... are you kidding? Wow! That's a 1.25 Like-per-Post ratio...!

Seriously only a year? Seems longer! Nice to have you! I've always been grateful there's not a ' What a load of twaddle ' button here, myself, I'd be up to 150,000.

JPK Huson 1863,

Pshaw!

The quality of your posts prevent such an occurrence.

100,000 tops, in my book. ;)

With much admiration and jocularity,
Unionblue

Ha! Typically kind UB and typically jocular! ( Unless someone has been talking twaddle in which case you're known to un-twaddle their notions in a big hurry )

Sorry Northern Light, actually one of he benefits of being a long time member is the ** sigh ** practiced when a thread goes to heck. Ever take a dog for a walk in the woods, or try? There's no ' walk '- they sniff themselves and you down every, single promising track, sidepath and rabbit hole in a 2 mile radius. Reminds me of thread sometimes when we all get into discussions or just side conversations. If you give a good tug on the choke chain, we'll come back!
