I wonder what the history of this picture is. These guys look like a bunch of young, almost kids, who have seen far more horrors in their young lives than they should have.
That's an interesting photograph. I like seeing the faces and character of these young men as well as all the field gear, canteens, haversack, muskets, cartridge box with the bend in the flap from being lifted up to grab ammo, headgear, as well as the hardtack. A nice study.

This is a phenomenal picture.
I don't feel as bad losing buttons while reenacting now. It looks like at least two of them have lost buttons on their trousers or have unbuttoned them.
