Reenactment at Gibson Ranch

Our very own @yellowthornoftexas (a cool dude) invited me to my first reenactment at Gibson Ranch near Sacramento. The flyer said it was The Battle of Appomattox. I enjoyed it a lot but it is not something in which I would participate. Who knew the cannons were so loud? Here are some photos I took.

Imagine 10 or more cannons firing at once! No wonder some orders couldn't be heard!

Mike! It was great meeting you!!! Great photos! The second battle was the best! As usual, we held the flank and the BDE's "retreat". Not one Texas back was shown. Then we pushed the advance to retake the field. Never saw so many blue behinds runnin

I left just before it started; ended up talking with a man from the historical society. I heard the battle!

I will admit, I was a little perplexed when the CS BDE Cmdr put the order out for no individual Regt'l colors. Course with only four of us, it worked out.
