Reenacting

So I've grown up going to many different types of reenactments. Anything from American Civil War reenactments to American revolutionary war to renaissance festivals. My question is, how do I get involved in participating in the reenactments?

I'm no longer involved, but the best way would be to research units in your local area. Since you're from Indiana, I presume you're more interested in Union units, but if that's not or not necessarily the case, Confederate units (or units that do both Federal and Confederate) exist both North and South. Once you find them, possibly online, attend a local event or two to actually meet them to see if they resemble your expectations. One word of advice: buy NOTHING until you join a group, lest you invest in something you later find out is unacceptable or useless. Most groups will loan a beginner or someone "trying out" reenacting enough gear so they can determine if it's really right for them. Good luck!
