Reddick Jasper Cartwright (1837 - 1914)

I am helpig a friend with some family history and am wondering if anyone here knows, or has, information about the Civil War record of Reddick Jasper Cartwright (1837 - 1914) from Cole County, Illinois? We'll get to his rifle later.

He enlisted August 4, 1862 and mustered in September 6th of that year as a private. He was promoted to corporal (I don't see a date for that). He mustered out on the 28th of June, 1865 at Edgefield, Tennessee. Here's his record at the Illinois Civil War website -

Be aware that there are two Reddick Cartwrights from Coles County.

Okay, back.
This is our guy, the family is famous for its red hair, for one thing. ALso one of the Reddicks had three wives and 23 childrenm, with a penchant for recycling names so tracking them is . . ........ interesting. The ffamily goes from North Carolina, eventually to California and then back as far as Arizona. There the rifle that Reddick "carried throughout the war" was donated to the Cartwright Museum (no longer extant) from which it was promptly stolen. Anyway, thank you so much for helping fill in these years.
