Trying to research the Confederate/ Union hospital at Red Boiling Springs, Macon County, Tennessee. The hospital was set up in the Dedman Hotel during Braxton Braggs Campaign into Kentucky, Septemeber 1862. Dr. James Carson Weir was in charge. The Hotel burned down in 1910 and was replaced by a nursing home. From what I have found the Federals recaptured the hospital and Dr. Weir and released him when he showed Union sympathies. Having a hard time finding dates on when the Federals recaptured the hospital. I believe my GGGrandfather was left at this hospital in September 1862 to die from disease. He mentions being captured by the Federals and paroled. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

It's locally pronounced "Red Bawlin" and I seem to remember there was a tourist site there at one time. Probably before my time, but ole timers talked about it. That's all I know.

It used to be a spa and had a popular tourist hotel. It's also relatively cool in the Sumer.
Still a couple of hotels there today. It was popular back in the day because people thought the springs to be healing. Recently stayed at the Thomas Hotel there. Very haunted!
