While it is quite a find, I suspect that it is from a Fire Company #1, the owners badge # was 116 and is post Civil War. Many Volunteer Stations then and now have company names instead of locality names and that may account for the initials. The two most popular/famous fire department units during the Civil War was the 72nd Pennsylvania (The Philadelphia Fire Zouaves-PFZ) and the 11th New York & the 73rd New York (The New York Fire Zouaves-FZ). Two of these Fire Zouave Units (the 72nd & 73rd) have monuments at Gettysburg.
