Question about missing 1863 rear sight

Hello,
This is a Springfield 1863 Type 1 missing the rear sight but I'm confused.....the dovetail seems to small for the standard musket rear sight? And isn't there supposed to be the screw hole in front of the dovetail? What could this be? Thank you.

Could you post photos of the markings on the left side of the barrel and a view of the lock-plate. I don't believe the barrel is an 1863.
