Fried Delights Potato Chips

Stumbled upon a period recipe for potato chips from Ann Smith's Practical & Economical Cookery - 1858. I never pictured people in the 19th munching on chips, but then again this is an English based cookbook and we know chips go with fish.

I made period correct potato chips once. Period correct in that we used period correct materials.
Potatoes and bacon grease.


We cooked some bacon (mabey 1/2 pound) after that we sliced 3-5 good sized potatos and fried them up. Then used some salt and had a heck of a good chip.
