Ft. Wayne was never really a complete fort. It didn't have post placed around it, even though a picture in Forts of Oklahoma may show such. The location is about 3 miles southwest of Maysville, like Gen. Blunt's report says but not like the New York newspaper report says which changes southwest to northwest and is an error. It is on private land and the land owners have a rich history of association with the fort and the land. Foundation stones from the fort were used in building a house on the property that recently burned but some old foundation stones are still on the edge of the field where the one building stood. There are some mounds of dirt along one edge of the field where soldiers set there tents and lived in while they were constructing on the fort.
