Possible Ghost at the 130th at Gettysburg

I've always wondered how quantum entanglement worked. Einstein called it, "spooky action at a distance," which seems strangely apropos of our discussion. And there you have it, science as odd and believable as the paranormal.

Since this topic has already touched on the Religion and/or Faith Venn Diagram overlap as it relates to the scientifically unexplainable, I'll leave this as a footnote Genesis and the Big Bang: Dr. Gerald Schroeder (2001) - YouTube

I have been to many battlefields, graveyards, etc. I have been part of recovery teams after disasters like the Buffalo Creek dam disaster in West Virginia back in the early 70's where a coal mine dam broke and killed a lot of people. I was on that site for about two weeks helping to recover the bodies of those that couldn't out run the water. Yet I have never seen a ghost.

I also use to play hide and seek in a local "graveyard" at night. Never saw or heard a ghost. My parents always told me never to be afraid of the dead as they couldn't hurt anyone anymore. However, I still love to hear the stories of others experiences. Like many of you I also loved to listen to my elders stories being told when I was a child. I wonder how many versions of the Lady in White there are, and how she can be in so many different states LOL. I am not sure what people are seeing, but it must really be exciting to have an experience like that. Especially concerning "ghost" from the Civil War.

I also enjoy listening to people's encounters though I don't believe in ghosts. I think the Ghost tours in Gettysburg began in the 1980s and before that ghosts weren't a big thing there. I also enjoy listening to tourists ask the locals about ghosts. I never heard a local say they saw a ghost. They must get tired of being asked about it.

An individual who was a seasonal at the Park who I knew personally moved to the area and started the ghost tours. Late 70s or 80s as I recall.
And you're right. Except for the White Lady I mentioned in another post that often turned out to be white marble statues in the mist (on the field at night as kids), none of us natives mentioned ghosts or thought the place was haunted. As kids, ok, a little. And it can be spooky on the field at night as there is often a lot of ground fog. You did NOT want to walk up on a Black Angus bull!
Now there are at least 5 different groups giving ghost tours. According to locals I know (summer jobs), they're told to conjure up any story they can to keep it interesting.
Two sisters, their husbands and a few classmates still live there and find it amusing when and if asked about ghosts. But hey, it gives the visitors something to do at night with the kids.

And being scared of the dark is natural. It's something that goes deeper than ghosts. Except me of course, the dark is scared of me. I also heard the ghosts at Gettysburg tell Chuck Norris stories

Same with the "turning angel" marble statue in the ancient Natchez, Mississippi Cemetery.
Many folks swear it's a true phenomena, but science has proven it's an optical illusion.
(Based on car headlights shining on the statue from different perspectives. The tomb is located on twisting road).

I am not sure what people are seeing, but it must really be exciting to have an experience like that.
For some people it may be.

But the few times I've seen unexplained "occurrences", I have to say ... they were not exciting.
Scary as hell would be a better description.

Ok 7th Mississippi Infantry, Turning Angel. Scary for sure. We (I) used to take the college girls (city girls, Jersey-Philly) who wanted to see the field and cows (?) out on the avenues at night as there wasn't much to do in town besides The Pub, trying to scare them........with dumb stories and "what's that" remarks ending up scaring ourselves.
With all the monuments, ground fog, wildlife and cattle (cattle til last few years), you could conjure up just about whatever you wanted without getting into the horrors of the place and what happened right where you were walking.

We did the same.

Looking back at those days, there is no way in the world the girls believed us.
But I think they also enjoyed some fun ghostly adventures before a "hook up".
:D
