I went to a museum today to look once again at this jacket. The First Michigan Three Month Volunteer Infantry Captain won a Medal of Honer at the First Battle of Bull Run. I do not believe he could have been wearing this at the time. He was a POW for a year and this jacket does not seem that worn. This appears to be a custom made officer jacket. Any thoughts on the jacket?
I am thinking of doing a uniform plate for the Company of Military Historians Military Uniforms in America series, about the First Michigan Three month Volunteer Infantry. Don't worry I would get an artist to do the art work. Still this jacket might make an interesting image on the uniform plate.
