Good times with the old crew out at P-Hill this weekend. Last of the Union Rifles. Went deep into the woods to look at our rifle pits from the 80's and 90's. Still there just a little shallow and full of leaves. Our old Union Rifles tree still remains somehow. Pic of yesterday and 35 years ago. Getting old!

Wow, just like a bunch of Union vets after the Civil War! Did you go over old war stories while standing there? Did you feel closer to the survivors of the war than you did when you were there as youngsters?

You should have recreated the bottom photo so we could match your younger selves to your current selves.

Oh yeah! Each pit was for two battle buddies and we went through all of them, remembering who occupied each over the years. Only guy in the correct position in pics is dude on the right, former USMC 0861

I have to say y'all look a lot older now, and a bunch of y'all got new hats! Did you ever consider doing some GAR reenactments of guys touring old battlefields? Sounds like a good way to give people a synopsis of the action on a very local level with some eyewitness details to keep it more exciting than just a narrative overview.

We are a lot older now. A couple of our guys do show up in GAR gear. Broken down bad. We skipped reenacting for about 20 years. Lots of new clothes, hats and gear. I got my infantry kit at Shiloh in 1987 when I was 12 from Dale Jarnagin. Trust me when I say none of that stuff fits other than my cartridge box

I doubt it'll fit me when I am too old to do reenactments but...
