Outstanding Pioneer Corps portraits are few and far between. Here is the lovely quarter plate tintype for those who might be interested.

"Quarter plate hand-tinted tintype of a member of the Pioneer Corps .

Striking portrait of a junior grade officer of the Pioneer Corps. He sits on the end of what appears to be a wooden bench, his arms crossed and his slouch hat tilted to one side. His Pioneer Corps crossed axe insignia and M1851 sword belt plate are both highly visible. (Surface imperfections present including scratch affecting subject's face and shoulder, other more minor scratches, mottling, few punctures, and a small area of rust to left edge; unsealed.) Housed in a pressed paper case."

Great and rare pic!

I agree with @Package4. Nice clear image and a RARE one to boot.

I love those pictures with guys turning the collar of their fatigue blouse up like a frock coat collar.

Great pic - thanks for sharing!!
