Included in a small grouping of civil war memorbilia...found this early photo . Would appreciate anyone offering help identifying...On his cap are crossed swords with 4 over "H"..on the back of photo..is the signature which looks like "Douglas McCartey" or "Douglas McCantey" or ? I am hoping if we can find what unit he was assigned to..might figure out his correct name...any help greatly appreciated...Hemi

It is a post- Civil War photo....

Thanks Albert..great info...now any idea how to find who the soldier is in the photo? are there muster rolls for Walla Walla circa 1892? you are the best...and dont think many of these photos are still around? best Hemi

I am sure there are rosters somewhere, but I have no idea how to go about finding those rosters.....You have a nice photo, and I wish you luck identifying the soldier!
