Anyone here ever encountered anything eerie or seen spirits on a Civil War battlefield, especially during reenactments?

I've seen some reenactors drinking stuff from earthenware jugs. I'm pretty sure it was spirits.

We did a family trip to Gettysburg with the kids when they were little and did a Ghost tour for laughs, and it was ok. But at the end of tour (with no ghost sightings) the guide apologized and said if we wanted a supernatural experience then our best chance was to go to Devils Den right before sunset; there where supernatural reports of a ghostly Confederate artillery battery still on duty and firing its guns at dusk. As we were heading home the next day we just happened to be passing Devil's Den right before sundown and on a lark we figured we'd drive by and check it out, not expecting to hear anything.

We pulled into the parking lot and rolled down our windows and waited. And waited... And then we heard it. The distinctive sound of a cannon being fired off in the distance. My kids freaked and started screaming and I immediately jumped out of the car to see where it was coming from. But my kids were begging me to get back in the car and get the h e double hockey sticks out of there. The cannon went off a few more times before I got back in and drove off.

We were shocked all the way home wondering what it could mean, until we got home. I was looking through a paper we picked up in town that had a calendar of events and I noticed there was listed an artillery demonstration at dusk each evening. I had to chuckle at how the tour guide set us up.

Similar experience at Perryville. During annual ghost walk, we heard distant firing.
