One of the Confederate soldiers I'm researching has this notation on his military record:
"Subject: Trial
Title of record: Order #7, Western Dept #2, Johnston
Date: February 26, 1862"
The soldier is J(ohn) M. Preston, Pvt, 19th TN Inf.
According to his record, he was a conscript, but discharged for being only 17 years old, although I have reason to believe he was older than that.
Any ideas where to look for more info?
