@luinrina has posted many wonderful photos of Olustee in her current vacation thread she's been sharing with us over the past week:

My other half took a bunch of pictures. I had to go out of town right after the event so can't get to them till I get home next week. As always it was a great event. A little thin on Yankees but that's typical down here. Good attendance on the CS side. From what I could tell from the field had a good spectator turnout.

Probably need to pay a bounty for Yankees in your area. We have the same only different issue up here! If only I had the funds!

All us Rebels bring a blue uniform with us just in case. They're always asking for a couple companies to switch sides.

You know I started off my Civil War experience as a member of a New York company in the North-South Skirmish Association (NSSA). But the team fell apart just as I was getting involved. I have light blue wool pants from that endeavor, so a blue jacket, hat and belt buckle would be all I need to switch sides. I should have been thinking along those lines while perusing the sutlers down there at Olustee.

By the way.. Captain Drew, I noticed the the reenactor registration for the Battle of Cedar Mountain also know as Slaughter's Mountain (not to be confused with Cedar Creek) has opened up. Event will be early August 8-9, 2020. You all can crash in my genuine Civil War church that I'm restoring. Have electric lights, AC, and porta-pot, but no running water as of yet. Or if you want that real 1860's experience, I can pull the main breaker, shut all that stuff off and use lanterns. Cedar Mountain is about 7 miles away.

We were ordered to "Fire at Will !" I was having a hard time determining which of the Yankees over there on the other side might be named Will
First Sergeant Drew and Private Ron are down to their last few rounds of ammunition and discussing options.... Fix Bayonets and charge, surrender, or run away.

Great pictures! Did the friends you were staying with take them?

And if I learned one thing that weekend from Drew's other half: Rebels don't run away. They're only falling back. ;) :giggle:

Thanks for the invite. I'm not sure about that event. I will most likely be in the area for Cedar Creek in October. I'll try my best to make time to come see the church.

Drew, if you are not camping at Cedar Creek, come crash at my townhouse in Chantilly, right next door to Dulles Airport. It's about an hour and 10 minutes away from the battlefield. I owe you that much for all the food I ate and the hospitality you and the rest of Company K, 28th Georgia extended to me (a complete stranger) down there at Olustee. I can run you back and forth or loan you my classic 1991 beater Jeep Wrangler. Seriously man, I owe you :smoke:

Thanks again for the invite but I will be camping. And you don't owe a thing, it was a pleasure having you. But I would like to come by and see the church while I'm in the area. You should take a ride down to Bentonville next month, it's shaping up to be a good event. I'll be with my summer bunch from up north for that one.
