I found this light brass buckle behind the old circa. 1854 Baptist Church in the ghost town of Rodney, MS a few years back.
The town was discovered by the French and they called it "Petit Gulf" since the Mississippi river formed a bow where the future town would lie. Perfect for a harbor town in the steamboat days. White settlers came and the town was formed in the early part of the 19th century (1820's I believe).
I'm curious as to the design on this buckle. This is why I posted it here on this forum.
I'm trying to tie a specific time period to this sash buckle. Is anyone familiar with style/designs of these type of buckles and to what time period? I'm guessing it's feminine. But you never know. Any help?
Thanks for looking.
