Old Fashioned Foamy Lemon Sauce

This is one of those sauces used forever and ever to top steamed puddings and pies? Oh- and my FAVORITE, gingerbread, the realllll thing. Love gingerbread, just had to stop myself from using caps for it. Like " Gingerbread, Laaaaaaa! " ( Angel chorus ).

This is Mom's before that her grandmother's, who knows whose before- am guessing ingredients changed through the years? It's amazing- guessing the taste did not.

I love Gingerbread too whether as cake, or cookies. This be a great sauce on gingerbread cake.
