I met the fine men of this discussion group who meet monthly at the community college for lectures, trips etc. I'll be joining their ranks ASAP. Why? Because I want to learn from them and eventually contribute to their group.

With the benefit of 20-20 hindsight, it seemed like a wonderful opportunity wasted, like so many others before them, to end the war quickly. But with Cold Harbor a recent memory, a delay for a scouting expedition beforehand seemed like a good idea. What's your take?

Interesting to hear from the presenter that Reynolds likely survived about 15 minutes after being shot. He showed obvious signs of paralysis: couldn't move, talk or swallow water, but could answer questions with eye movements. The source was the doctor who treated him on scene.

Round tables also offer tours, day trips, book sales, local and national speakers. An excellent forum for expanding your knowledge of the CW and the development of topics that interest you.

Our CWRT explores battles, politics of the day, medicine, special units and of couse individuals. These topics have motivated me to find and explore my own interests. My goals this year are to study Jefferson Davis, George Custer and the impact of West Point on CW leadership.
