Officers Commission

Interesting that states were still issuing brevet commissions in 1867....per the Wisconsin one.

Don't know if anyone noticed, but the Lucius Fairchild who was the Governor of Wisconsin and awarded it commanded the 2nd Wisconsin at Gettysburg, and was wounded, losing an arm, on the first day.

Dear Southern_Son;

My, my--what wonderful collections of commissions. All of them are so beee-uuuuu-ttteeeeeeeeeee--full!!!!!!!

Love them all!!! Facinating documents.

I really do like the handwriting of Colonel Smith. Very clear and crisp; I so, very much, enjoy the old style writing.

Respectfully submitted,
M. E. Wolf
