I'm looking for images of originals, reproductions or even passages regarding the description of the North Carolina Depot Jacket (NOT to be confused with the 1861 folded-collar North Carolina Depot Sack Coat).
Any info is appreciated. Thank you.

To elaborate i'm having one reproduced for a 43rd NC Infantry impression.

I would also like to know what was most common button pattern for NC jackets and coats overall?

1. The NCM "Hornet's Nest" pattern.
2. The NC State Seal pattern.
3. The NC "Starburst" pattern.

I hope some of you Tarheels on here can help. Again, thanks to anyone who provides more info. I've already searched previous threads and couldn't find what I was looking for.

I have not studied the NC issues as intense as the Richmond Depot... but according to my many tarheel pards and the research they have conducted... They proclaim the NC Starburst being the more common of NC buttons used mid-late war....

If you have a copy of Echoes of Glory the Amzi Williams uniform set is NC issue, as are the Hugh Duncan trousers.

Blue and Gray marching has some good info on NC issue goods for a couple of divisions in the ANV circa 1864.

State seal and starburst are by far the most commonly recovered buttons. Personally it seems to me there are more excavated starburst buttons. Ben Tart offers a fine reproduction NC starburst button.

IIRC NC issue coats are 6 button front, 4 or 6 piece body (I seem to recall a couple variations aside from the trademark early war sack coat) with 2 piece sleeves.
