I have several photos of the Irish Legion under the command of Michael Corcoran at their camp in Norfolk news and wanted to know what camps were there in December of 1862 as to positively identify the location.

In November 1862 Corcoran's command (155th, 164th, 170th and 182nd New York Infantry) was shipped to Newport News VA where they remained until December 29, 1862, when they moved to lines outside Suffolk. I cannot say where in Newport News they were encamped.

The primary camps in the area were Camp Hamilton, near Hampton/Fort Monroe, and Fort Wool, in the Norfolk bay.

According to department commander General Dix, the tents of Corcoran's Irish Legion were damaged by a storm the day before they embarked for Norfolk. Due to this lack of tents, the brigade was housed in the camps of the freedmen refugee community at Newport News. As Corcoran's brigade was sent to Suffolk less than a month later, the freedmen themselves were temporarily sent to Cranor Island. (OR V18 pp 461).

Do you mean Cranor Island or Craney Island?

I believe these were probably all taken in Fairfax Va along the Orange and Alexandria Railroad by Andrew Russell. The Medford collection says the hut photo was taken in 1864 (Wikipedia says the 164th NY were guarding the railroad/DC July 1863-May 1864).

Here is another photo of more of the huts (NARA):

What makes you think they were taken in or around Norfolk? Barely any photographers made it down there during the war and I don't think I have ever seen a confirmed Union camp scene photo there.

The man in the top hat looks like Norman Wiard, who developed the gun that bears his name.

I also found this photo https://www.loc.gov/pictures/item/2023632615/resource/

This last photograph was likely taken in Northern Virginia due to the hilliness of the terrain. This was likely taken sometime in the fall or winter months due to the lack of leaves on the trees, the extra clothing the men are wearing, and the semi-permanent shelters they've constructed out of timbers and mud.

I think it looks more like the author is just using the photos as examples of photos of the regiments than saying they were definitely taken in Norfolk. The Andrew Russell taking the photos in Fairfax in 1864 hypothesis I posted above is quite solid.
Ah, yes, the old "take the same photograph of [x] and use it for everything" approach. The same happened to the photograph of Oakwood Cemetery, which was so extensively reused and recycled that - for a time - it was mislabeled as having been taken at Hollywood Cemetery.
