Im an avid reader and a lover of non-fiction but lately (especially with Civial War books) everything seems dry. Looking for recommendations on well written non-fiction. Im a lover of Candice Millards style of non-fiction. Factual and researched but still intriguing without being weighed down by dates and painstaking details that add nothing to the value of the book. Open for suggestions and willign to give anythign a shot.

Wiley Sword's Shiloh: Bloody April and Embrace an Angry Wind

Bell I Wiley classics The Life of Billy Yank and The Life of Johnny Reb

Glenn Tucker High Tide of Gettysburg

Timothy Smith any of his books are great

David

For historical non-fiction, try 'Gray Raiders of the Sea' by Chester G. Hearn. It's a well-told true narrative that reads like an adventure story on the high seas.

For something a little different in historical non-fiction, try also 'Berry Benson's Civil War Handbook'. It's an interesting personal account by a Confederate scout and sharpshooter of his own experiences during the war. It's a flowing account that reads like a well told story.
